Aurora Bed & Breakfast
Check Availability/Book:

A B&B is all about providing "bed" and "breakfast". Surprising how often B&B's provide a lot of fluffy extras without giving you a decent bed, clean room and a satisfying breakfast.

At Aurora you are provided with really comfortable, good quality, eco-friendly accommodation; tasty home-cooked food using local, ethical produce and many free extras that make travelling that bit easier. Ann works hard to create a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and home from home feel. Guest and owner accommodation are seperate within the house, so guests can completely relax. Keys are provided for greater independence.

An Alastair Sawday's “Special Place to Stay”

The smart en-suite bedrooms have a contemporary feel with a nature inspired colour palette. Large Super-King and King sized pocket sprung divan beds - firm yet yielding ensure a comfortable night's rest. Duvets are as light as a feather, but mould beautifully around your body and give instant warmth (hypo-allergenic). Contemporary, sparkling clean, spacious en-suite shower rooms.

Downstairs a purpose built, large front entrance area has a drying room (washing machine, overhead drying, slatted shelving & dehumidifyer) and a seperate toilet. Guests can come in wet and muddy from a good day out in the mountains, dis-robe and clean up without worrying about trailing mess through the house. The spacious architect designed south facing dining room is glazed floor to ceiling to take advantage of the views.

The panoramic first floor living room has some of the best sunset views in the village, overlooking Shieldaig Island and lower Loch Torridon. On clear days you can see the mountains on Harris. Binoculars provided in this elevated room, facilitate sheltered viewing of the sea-eagles over the Island. A wood burning stove creates a really cosy room; warmth with a low carbon footprint. The large TV with DVD provides entertainment; satellite feed to this room is the only way of getting a reliable TV signal upstairs - the dish being some distance away to get a signal over the mountains.

On the guests landing, facilities include a laptop on a desk (stools for two) to allow free access to broadband internet (printer also available). Wi-Fi is throughout the house. A guest’s fridge is kept supplied with fresh organic milk and provides limited space for guests to store medication, drinks, the basics for packed lunch. The living room and landing have shelves providing a mini library, reference books (local flora, fauna and walks) lighter reading and book swap.

The front car park is covered in stone chippings; there are 3 steps up to the front door or a ramp. A small lip is present at the threshold of the front door.

All the guest bedrooms and guests lounge are on the first floor, which are accessed by stairs which have 2 right angle turns. The en-suite showers all have a step up of around 23cm to enter.
