Travelling by rail to the city of Inverness is available via the main rail hubs of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The main line stations link to all other major cities throughout the UK.

The closest train station with links to the Shieldaig is Strathcarron (18 miles) which is on the Inverness-Kyle, Kyle-Inverness train line. Alight at Strathcarron (rather than Achnasheen). The midday train is met by a local mini bus service - DMK or Lochcarron Garage service Monday - Saturday. Catch the mini bus and ask to be dropped at Aurora - top of village next to campsite.

There is only one service a day that is met by the minibus (lunchtime) and it will mean an early entry request - so be sure to tell me this is how you are getting here when you book! A realistic compromise is to get to Inverness by Public Transport and then hire a car for ease of getting around this area - there are no taxis here.
