Our postcode is IV54 8XN – SatNav will take you to the lower level as there is only one postcode here. We are upper village, with a sign at the front.

From the South (West Coast & Skye)

From Strathcarron and the South - drive north to SHIELDAIG (do not go as far as Torridon). The main road (A896) bypasses our village. One road loops all the way through Shieldaig village, off the main road. Either go left at the 1st turn, through the village, up the hill & hairpin bend - we are the 1st house on right. Or 2nd left off the main road and we are the 4th building on the left. Aurora is at top level of the village, nearly opposite the war memorial, next to the unofficial campsite (marked on many maps).

From the North (Ullapool via west coast & Gairloch)

From Gairloch drive southeast to Kinlochewe (A832), turn right (A896 to SHIELDAIG). Drive through Glen Torridon, which is single track and a beautiful drive. IGNORE the Torridon turn, continue to SHIELDAIG on the main road (A896). Just after Shieldaig village & 40mph SIGN, take 1st right, we are the 4th on left and do have a sign at the roadside.

From Ullapool via Garve, the East (Inverness) and A9

From Inverness - follow the Brown Tourist signs for "Wester Ross Coastal Trail". Initially follow Ullapool signs (A835), then just after Garve take the left turn A832 towards Gairloch. At the roundabout at Achnasheen take the 2nd exit and head down Glen Docherty (not towards Lochcarron). At Kinlochewe - turn left onto the A896 to Shieldaig. Drive through Glen Torridon, which is single track and alongside various munros. IGNORE the Torridon turn continue to SHIELDAIG on the main road (A896). Just after Shieldaig village & 40mph SIGN, take 1st right, we are the 4th house on the left.

Notes

• Mobiles cannot always be relied upon to have signal in remote Highland areas
• We are mainland Scotland – so do not believe SatNav directing you to Mallaig to catch a ferry unless you wish to take a scenic detour, adding 2-3 hours to your journey!
• The A9 is the fastest route to us from the Borders & England by at least an hour; especially if you get stuck behind slow traffic on the West Coast route!
• Check the A890 road closure at Stromeferry before you set out. Even from Skye this means a 140 mile diversion.
